Durham took on a Man Utd side full of international player at Maiden Castle, Durham in the group stage of the Continental Tyres Cup. After going behind twice, Durham pulled it back to 2-2 at the final whistle to earn a hard fought point. United took the bonus point for winning the penalty shoot-out.
